With a Spouse/Partner

If you have a spouse, CRS points work differently. Your maximum language points drop, but your spouse's language also contributes:

Strategic CLB Targets

If You Need CLB 7 (Minimum for FSW)

Focus on getting all four sections to at least 7. One weak section at CLB 6 disqualifies you from FSW, even if other sections are CLB 10.

Priority: Identify your weakest section and focus practice there.

If You Want Maximum CRS Points

Target CLB 10 in all sections for 136 language points. The jump from CLB 9 (124) to CLB 10 (136) adds 12 more points.

Strategy: The Listening and Reading sections are often easier to max out since they're multiple-choice. Focus extra practice on Writing and Speaking.

If You're Close to the CRS Cutoff

Every point matters. If the latest draw was 470 and you're at 460:

• Improving one section from CLB 8 → CLB 9 = +8 CRS points
• Improving two sections from CLB 8 → CLB 9 = +16 CRS points
• Improving one section from CLB 9 → CLB 10 = +3 CRS points
